The Kapnios, wine quoted by Plato (The University) and Pliny (Naturalis Historia) is the
first Amarone, meaning wine withered and dry, history. There
name comes from the Greek capnios smoked. The vine from which the Sunnis
obtained these wines was also caburnica, the modern cabernet, already
Campania three millennia ago. The drying of the grapes in the sun produces the flavor
smoked, hence the name greek.
WINE
From vine Aglianico bitter Taburno mountain in purity, picked grapes
hand in late November, left to dry in the fruit garden. Gained three
years in new barrels of French oak, aged one year in bottle.
ORGANOLEPTIC
The color is purple. The smell reminds blackberries and black currants. The taste
full and balanced with melted tannins and a long finish of roasted coffee
sugar, chocolate, tobacco and spices.
